Dairy Production Technician Level 1 (DPT1) Program 2019-2020

Dairy apprenticeship technical training is a practical program that covers a broad variety of topics: milking, milking equipment cleaning and maintenance, mastitis, animal handling, farm safety, identification of common diseases, administration of medication (proAction), record keeping, hoof health, obstetrics and reproduction.

Technical Training Dates 2019 – 2020

  • September to December 2019 – five afternoons and two full day classes and the completion of independent study workbook assignments (approximately 48 hours of work) with teacher support.
  • Late January 2020 – Five full day classes.
  • Late February 2020 – Five full day classes.
  • Mid March 2020- Five full day classes.

Location:

Full day classes will generally be held at UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre, 6947 Lougheed Highway in Agassiz, from 8:30 AM till 3:00 PM (with milking labs starting at 7 AM).

Afternoon classes we be held at Greenbelt Veterinary Services, 8451 Harvard Place in Chilliwack.

Cost:

Registration fee (includes student materials): $241.50 (incl GST)
Tuition: $1,250 (paid if in Youth Train in Trades Program)
Payable to: Greenbelt Veterinary Services Ltd. (Debit, Cheque, Visa or MasterCard)

TAX CREDIT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS:
Apprentices are eligible for a $1,000 tax credit upon completion of the program

TAX CREDIT INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYERS:
Employers are eligible for a training tax credit for the first 24 months: 20% of eligible salary and wages up to $4,000.
